Robotics students give demos at Atascadero Elks Lodge dinner
County, City of Atascadero present proclamations declaring National Youth Week
– The Atascadero Elks Lodge #2733 celebrated National Youth Week with robotics demonstrations from the award-winning Atascadero High School Robotics Team and the Atascadero Middle School Robotics Team at a special dinner held last Thursday at the Atascadero Elks Lodge.
National Youth Week is an annual event that is celebrated across the county by local Elks lodges to recognize the achievement of local young people in our communities. The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors declared the first week in May as Elks National Youth Week and Atascadero Mayor Heather Moreno presented the Elks with a proclamation at the event proclaiming National Youth Week in Atascadero.
“One of our top priorities as Elks is supporting the youth in our community and celebrating their successes,” said Atascadero Elks Exalted Ruler Ronnie Maxwell. “The High School and the Middle School Robotics Team just completed highly successful seasons and it was an honor for us to host them and recognize their accomplishments at the lodge.”
The event at the Atascadero Elks Lodge featured robotics demonstrations from both the award-winning Atascadero High School Robotics Team and the Atascadero Middle School Robotics Team.
During the event, the Elks made a $250 contribution to the Atascadero Middle School Robotics Team. The Elks made a $1,000 contribution earlier this year to support the Atascadero High School Robotics Team.
Since its inception in 1987, the Atascadero Elks have contributed over $850,000 to various programs including youth activities, local sports, programs for handicapped and needy children, patriotic programs, veterans programs, and many community activities. In addition, the Elks participate in drug awareness programs at our local schools and distribute dictionaries to all 3rd graders in the area.
