Roadwork begins for pavement resurfacing project
Project is scheduled for completion in December
– The City of Atascadero announced that work on the 2024 F-14 Pavement Resurfacing Project began Monday, Oct. 28. The project included resurfacing approximately 1.37 centerline miles, or 2.74 lane miles, of critical neighborhood roads in the north and central areas of Atascadero.
The following road segments are scheduled for pavement improvements:
- Capistrano Avenue (from Highway 41 to Lewis Avenue): Dig-out and fill operations are scheduled for Oct. 28-29, with resurfacing set to follow in mid-November. Work hours will avoid school drop-off and pick-up times, though minor traffic delays and lane shifts are expected.
- Del Rio Road (from Potrero Road to San Anselmo Road): Dig-out and fill work will occur on Oct. 28-29, with resurfacing planned for mid-November. Work will be scheduled outside of school drop-off and pick-up times to reduce impact, though drivers should anticipate delays and lane shifts.
- San Andres Avenue (from San Marcos Road to Highway 41): Dig-out and fill work near the bridge crossing is planned for Oct. 28-29, with resurfacing to follow in mid-November. Minor traffic delays and lane shifts are expected.
- Country Club Drive (from Capistrano Avenue to the end of the road): Work is scheduled to begin in mid-November.
The project is scheduled for completion in December, pending weather conditions. Roadway treatments will vary across segments and may include overlays, slurry seals, or other methods designed to maintain pavement in fair to good condition. Souza Construction is contracted to carry out the work, expected to take approximately three months.
The City and Souza Construction will coordinate closely with residents and drivers to minimize disruptions; however, delays are anticipated. Motorists are advised to follow traffic signage and allow extra time when traveling through construction areas.
