Ribbon cutting to be held for new playground at Atascadero Lake Park
–The City of Atascadero has announced the grand reopening and ribbon cutting for the new playground at Atascadero Lake Park. City council members, parks & recreation commissioners, and city staff will be among those in attendance on Tuesday, July 3r at 5:30 p.m. The reopening of the playground will kick off just in time for the 4th of July.
The Atascadero Lake Park playground replaces the former youth playground structure. The new structure features a larger, two-story youth playground structure with new swings, including regular belt swings, toddler swings, and adaptive swings that allow an adult and child to swing together. In addition, an all-weather, poured-in-place rubberized surface has been constructed within the playground perimeter to provide fall-protection and ADA accessibility.
Funding for the playground upgrade was made possible by the Housing Related Parks Grant awarded to the city in late 2017. In addition, playground manufacturer, Game Time, provided a second grant of $73,000, which brought the project cost of $333,000 down to $280,000. Great Western Recreation of Ventura, California was hired by the City to supply and construct the playground with participation from many local subcontractors.
