Registration open for summer youth basketball
–It is time again for the City of Atascadero’s annual Summer Basketball League. Registration is now open through June 3 and the cost is $71.50 per child, which includes a league t-shirt and a participation award. Registration is being taken at the Colony Park Community Center, located at 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero. Space is limited.
This co-ed Summer Basketball League is for boys and girls in grades 1st through 12th, at any skill level and is conducted in a non-competitive setting. The program stresses the importance of individual skill development, teamwork, positive attitudes and most of all, fun!
The League will start Monday, June 10 with two weeks of skills/practices, where players will have the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced players and coaches.
After the skills/practice weeks, games will then be held twice per week. This system gives inexperienced players the opportunity to learn the structure of game-play, while more experienced players continue to improve upon their skills. Staff members work together to provide extra time with inexperienced and younger players, to ensure that all players build a good understanding for the rules and structure of gameplay.
Games will be held on Monday through Thursday evenings, June 24 through July 25, with each team having two games per week.
Registration is open April 24 – June 3. Practices run from June 10-20. Games are June 24-July 25. The end of season tournament will be held July 29-July 31. To register, visit www.atascadero.org.
