Registration now open for summer youth basketball

The City of Atascadero announced that registration is now open for the summer 2015 Youth Basketball League.

This youth program stresses the importance of, “individual skill development, teamwork, positive attitudes, and fun.” Age appropriate leagues will be offered for the co-ed summer basketball program for children in 1st through 8th grades, in a non-competitive setting and for any skill level.

Registration will only be open May 8 through June 5. The cost is $71.50 per child, which includes a league t-shirt and a participation award. Registrations will be accepted at the Colony Park Community Center at 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero. Space is limited.

Included in the registration fee is the skills and clinic week, which will be held June 8 through June 10 and will include many different basketball and conditioning drills. Skills/clinic week is not mandatory, but participation is encouraged.

After teams are assembled and volunteer coaches are assigned, practices will run for two weeks in the evenings, beginning June 15. Games will be then be held Monday through Thursday evenings, June 29 through July 23, with each team having two games per week.
