Rabobank helps Atascadero families go solar

Staff from the nearby Paso Robles Rabobank branch installed rooftop solar systems for six Atascadero homes and contributed $5,000 to GRID Alternatives for the cause. The California bank recently sponsored $5,000 to the nonprofit solar installer, and volunteered at the organization’s “Solarthon” block party on May 20. The Rabobank Paso Robles branch team joined 60 volunteers, job trainees and community leaders to install low-cost solar rooftop solar systems for six homes in the People’s Self-Help Housing Atascadero Triangle neighborhood.

The Atascadero event was part of a statewide “SuperSolarthon,” where GRID Alternatives installed solar on 19 homes in various counties. An estimated 300 volunteers and job trainees joined these installations, saving families nearly $625,000 in electricity costs over the systems’ lifetimes and gaining valuable hands-on work experience that will help job trainees access careers in the growing solar industry.
