Update: Hit-and-run victim dies from injuries

– The San Luis Obispo Police Department has reported that Saul Goldberg, 87, a resident of Avila Beach, has died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident. Goldberg succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, July 30.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available, police say.

Police seek hit-and-run driver in SLO bicycle collision
– The San Luis Obispo Police Department it investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a vehicle and two bicyclists that occurred on Tuesday, July 23, at 12 p.m. on the 2800 block of S. Higuera.
Officers responded to a local hospital after being alerted that an 87-year-old man had been seriously injured in a possible traffic collision. The man was transported to the hospital by ambulance, but no prior call had been made to the SLOPD Dispatch Center regarding the incident.
Investigators determined that the victims, two male residents of Avila Beach aged 73 and 87, were riding electric bicycles southbound on Higuera when an unknown vehicle sideswiped the first bike and struck the second. Both riders were thrown to the ground. The 87-year-old man is in critical but stable condition, and the 73-year-old sustained minor to moderate injuries. Both men were wearing helmets.
A white four-door sedan was seen fleeing the scene shortly after the collision. The driver is wanted for questioning.
