Police respond to report of stabbing at city library

LibraryWound was accidental and self inflicted, according to police

Paso Robles Police responded to a report today of a potential stabbing at the Paso Robles City Library in the men’s restroom today.

According to library volunteer associates program and events coordinator Suzanne Robitaille, a man approached the clerks at the front desk of the library to report that the men’s restroom was covered in blood, and that there was a man that was believed to be a potential stabbing victim sitting on the bench outside of the library. Robitaille said that police and fire responded immediately, cleaned up the blood, and transported the man to the hospital.

According to Paso Robles Police Lieutenant Tim Murphy, the man had accidentally inflicted the wound to himself earlier in the day, near the Wendy’s on Niblick, while trying to cut rope. A friend reportedly transported the man to the Library complex, “for whatever reason,” Murphy said, where the report was made and police and fire responded bringing the man to the hospital.

Murphy said that the wounds did not appear life threatening.
