Pile burning planned in Cayucos

–Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 25, burning of several dozen large slash piles will occur along the northeast edge of Cayucos, north of Old Creek Road above Richard Avenue, according to a press release from Cal Fire.

Firefighters have been working hard to address concerns from the public about the potential fire hazard from the many dead pines on the hill above this community. Most of these dead trees have now been cut and the slash piles will be burned over a 2-3 day period this week, beginning tuesday.

Although expected to last several days, burning will be completed each day in a manner that will minimize potential overnight smoke impacts. If conditions are not suitable for good consumption and optimal smoke dispersal, burning will be rescheduled.
