Pedestrian struck, killed on Highway 101 in North County 

Investigation is ongoing

– A 19-year-old man was killed Sunday night while attempting to cross Highway 101 in north San Luis Obispo County, according to an article by the San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Officers were dispatched to the northbound side of Highway 101 near Highway 58 at 11:38 p.m. in response to reports of a pedestrian walking in traffic lanes. While en route, a second call reported the pedestrian had crossed to the southbound side of the highway, south of Highway 58.

At 11:39 p.m., an involved party contacted the communications center to report the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the No. 2 lane with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tribune report. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Luis Obispo office of the California Highway Patrol at (805) 594-8700.
