Paso Robles man arrested for felony child abuse
– 27-year-old Paso Robles man Francisco Javier Chavez has been arrested for felony child abuse of a two-year-old girl, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.
On Wednesday, at approximately 7:17 p.m., the police department was contacted by a social worker from San Luis Obispo County Child Welfare Services regarding a child who was being treated for significant injuries at a hospital in Madera.
The initial report indicated that the child had initially been treated at Twin Cities Community Hospital on Tuesday night before being transferred to the hospital in Madera due to the extent of her injuries.
Detectives responded and learned that the victim had multiple fractures and other injuries that were inconsistent with the description of events reported by the child’s mother and her live-in boyfriend, identified as 27-year-old Paso Robles resident Francisco Javier Chavez.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Chavez for felony child abuse. Chavez was transported back to the Paso Robles police department and later booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
