Part of Atascadero Rock Snake relocated for roadwork
F-14 roadwork to begin on Marchant Way & Pismo Ave.
–The City of Atascadero is starting the segment of the 2021 F-14 roadwork that includes Marchant Way and Pismo Avenue, including roadwork to be done around a portion of Atascadero Lake.
Preliminary work, including milling the existing asphalt, will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 7 on Marchant Way and Pismo Avenue and will continue over the course of two weeks. The planned construction schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, 9/7 – Wednesday, 9/8: Mill existing asphalt & roadway excavation
- Thursday, 9/9 – Friday, 9/10: Subgrade grading and preparation
- Monday, 9/13 – Tuesday, 9/14: Import road base
- Wednesday, 9/15 – Friday, 9/17: Roadway paving
The above schedule is subject to change.
The roadway is planned to be completed by Sept. 17. Following that date, work will still be in progress to install asphalt berms, reconstruct the lake pathway, raise utilities to grade, roadway striping and more.
During construction, plan for delays on both Pismo Avenue and Marchant Way. Access to the Pavilion parking lot and adjacent properties will be available throughout this work schedule. Residents who enjoy walking around the lake are asked to be patient during this project, as the pedestrian path along Marchant Way surrounding Atascadero Lake will not be accessible.
As part of this roadway improvement project, a portion of the famous Atascadero Lake Rock Snake has been relocated from the west side (Marchant Way) of Atascadero Lake over to the east side (Lake View Drive) to join up with the main snake. Moving this group of rocks over to the main snake also gives Atascadero a better chance at making it into the Guinness Book of World Records.
