Open house for Cancer Support Community May 19
Community invited to celebrate at new Templeton location
–Staff, board members, and volunteers with the Cancer Support Community-California Central Coast are holding an open house on Thursday, May 19 from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate the new location of the non-profit agency at the corner of Las Tablas Road and Heather Court in Templeton. A ribbon cutting ceremony, with the Templeton Chamber of Commerce, will take place at 4:30 p.m.
“Our Open House is a wonderful opportunity for those in the medical community and the community at large to learn more about our programs, services, and everything that we have to offer should they ever need us,” said CSC Executive Director Shannon D’Acquisto. “We will be showcasing our donor wall and our new space as well as our board members, staff, and volunteers. In addition, this is a chance for us to celebrate and honor our many program participants including cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and their families.”
Formerly located in Paso Robles, the local CSC office was moved to Templeton on March 1, allowing access to a wider variety of participants with the simple-to-find space situated near numerous doctors’ offices, Twin Cities Community Hospital, and the Wellness Kitchen. Just a block away from Hwy. 101 off the Las Tablas exit, the new site has been well-received by cancer patients, program participants, physicians, and facilitators from both northern and southern SLO County.
Free cancer support, including services, support groups, and programming offered by CSC includes Living With Cancer, Young Survivors, meditation, yoga, and more. The Beautification Boutique, located inside the CSC office building, enables staff to provide wigs and hats free of charge to patients.
“All of our services are offered free of charge thanks to the kindness and support of local donors,” said D’Acquisto, “and 100 percent of those funds stay local. Also, throughout the year, we hold fundraising events including our recent, highly-successful Tour of Paso. Upcoming events include a gala which will be held Aug. 27 in a beautiful wine country setting and our annual Pink Moto Ride in October. Look for more information and how to purchase tickets for both events soon on our website at cscslo.org.”
