One injured in three-car accident on bridge
– One male passenger was injured this morning in an accident on the Niblick Road bridge over the Salinas River.
According to Paso Robles Police Sgt. Tod Rehner, the accident occurred at about 7:35 a.m. in stop-and-go traffic. The vehicle in the picture was the “at-fault” vehicle. “In stop and go traffic, that vehicle tried to change lanes quickly to avoid a rear end collision, but struck the vehicle in front of it (right rear to driver side of at fault vehicle). That contact caused the at fault vehicle to spin out of control, striking a third vehicle. As the at fault vehicle spun, the driver was ejected onto the roadway sustaining minor to moderate head injuries. He was transported from the scene to Sierra Vista where he is currently in stable condition. The vehicle then rolled back to its point of rest,” said Rehner. No other injuries were reported.
For a brief amount of time, all lanes traveling West on Niblick over the bridge were closed. By 8 a.m., only one lane remained closed and through traffic was opened again.
