Oil and watercolor artists featured at Morro Bay gallery
–The Gallery at Marina Square at 601 Embarcadero in Morro Bay will feature an oil painter and watercolor painter for the month fo August. Exhibits will begin Aug. 1 and continue to Aug. 29.
Artist— Patricia Newton, fine art oil painting
Artist’s statement:
“I knew early on, that art would somehow become an intrinsic part of my life!
“Although a career path would lead me in a different direction, I worked hard, painted when time permitted and raised a family. I moved to the Central Coast of California, where I fell in love with rolling hills that reach to the sea and began to pursue lifelong dreams of becoming a professional artist. The local landscape has had a profound impact on the artwork I create in oil.
“My style is representational, utilizing a glazing technique of many thin layers to create a translucent effect that provides depth and emanates light from my paintings. My current body of work has been inspired by the powerful movement of the sea and magnificent coastline.
“During the last thirty-five years. I’ve become an award-winning artist, a member of The Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, and currently serve as President of Morro Bay Art Association.”
Artist – Virginia Mack, fine art watercolor painting
Artist’s statement:
“Painting, birding, and teaching are passions of mine. With our Covid-19 restrictions, I have had to let go of teaching for a while, but not painting or birding. I have been immersed in studying birds and painting them for the last decade. I have always thought I had around 18-20 species of birds on my property in Atascadero. But because I have been staying home, I have been doing a lot of yard birding during the last couple of months, and I am now up to 46 species! So with this show, I am celebrating my outdoor journeys in discovering birds, and my continued friendships with my indoor pet companions—my 3 wonderful cats.”
