Nomination period for primary election fast approaching
–Anyone interested in running for one of the offices on the March 3, 2020 election must complete the necessary paperwork by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. This deadline typically extends to Wednesday, Dec. 11 should an incumbent not file by the Dec. 6 deadline.
According to County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong, “The extension period does not apply to state offices in which the incumbent is not running due to term limits, such as with State Senator Bill Monning. As a result, there will be no office with an extension since the remaining incumbents are in the process of completing their nomination filings.”
The contests on the ballot include races U.S. Congress 24th District, 17th District State Senator, 35th District Member of the State Assembly, 1st, 3rd, and 5th District Supervisor, and the partisan offices of central committee/county council contests
for all qualified parties except the American Independent Party.
