After-school program for Atascadero middle schoolers opens
The Boys & Girls Club have opened an after-school program for middle schoolers in Atascadero. Enrollment is starting with 75 children.
It is a very low-cost program, at $20 a school year, to make the after-school program available to all families.
“We believe there are Five Key Elements for successful youth development, this is having a safe and positive environment, fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations, and recognition,” The Boys & Girls Club says in a press release.
The program is open Monday through Friday after school for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders who would like to attend. Staff members walk with the kids from Atascadero Jr. High to the club.
Applications can be picked up at the Atascadero office which is on the Campus of the Community Church, 5850 Rosario Ave, Atascadero CA 93422. Applications can also be found on the website www.bgcslocounty.org/applications or contact Sarah at [email protected]
