New Saturday tours at Historic Atascadero City Hall
The City of Atascadero and Atascadero Historical Society invite the public out for a Tour of Historic City Hall. Tours are offered from 1–4 p.m. each Saturday. Join docents as they take you through a time when City Hall was the place to come for commerce, dances, reunions and much more. Visitors will enjoy learning about the beautiful architecture of the building and the development of the Atascadero colony inspired by E.G. Lewis.
The spectacular Historic City Hall, originally built in 1918, has been restored above and beyond its original grandeur after the 2003 San Simeon Earthquake. Tour the architecture and museum exhibit of Atascadero’s fascinating roots on docent led tours offered by the Atascadero Historical Society.
Historic City Hall Tours are complimentary and are offered Wednesdays from noon–2 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 1-4 p.m. Visitors can also book a private tour with the Atascadero Historical Society. In addition to City Hall, visitors can enjoy a stroll around the Sunken Gardens with the beautiful fountain that adorns the park and the surrounding statues. Visitors can continue their visit with a short walk over to the Colony House to learn about the beginning of one of the most unique communities in California.
The Historic City Hall will be offering night tours on Dec. 4 for Atascadero’s Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony at the Sunken Gardens. The tours on this evening will be from 5:30–8:30 p.m.
