New radio station Voice of Paso promotes area
Steve Martin launches Voice of Paso
There’s a new way to “listen” in Paso Robles thanks to the Voice of Paso, a new radio station established to promote the city’s news, events and people. The new station is Internet only, which means listeners can tune in from anywhere in the world. You can listen by visiting www.VoiceOfPaso.com, or by downloading computer/tablet/smartphone apps at www.Live365.com or www.TuneIn.com. Apps are also available for WIFI-based home entertainment systems such as Roku.
Voice of Paso has been developed by S.W. Martin & Associates, a local advertising and public relations firm owned by Steven W. Martin, who also happens to be the Mayor of Paso Robles. Martin says the station is a private enterprise project, however, and that it is not funded by taxpayer dollars.
“I have a radio background and I’ve always wanted to own a station. I’ve just never been able to afford one,” said Martin “Now with radio automation software and the internet streaming service provided by Live365 headquarter in Foster City, California, and my dream has come true.”
It’s strictly a one-man operation at the moment, according to Martin, and he has no delusions about competing with traditional broadcast stations.
“They have full-time staffs and well-established listenership,” said Martin. “I am just using modern technology to put a new spin on an old, familiar media. I am hoping to build local listenership, of course, but I think the station also has the potential to reach people around the world and enlighten them about the advantages of traveling to and investing in our city.”
Martin said he is dedicated to promoting the city and spotlighting its people and their accomplishments. The station offers hourly newscasts during the morning hours Monday through Friday as well as weather forecasts, sports news and business reports. Martin also airs public service announcements for local events and organizations at no charge.
“I am pleased to partner with other media in the area to provide content and cross-promote,” said Martin. “Our first media partner is Access Publishing and their online news service PasoRoblesDailyNews.com.”
