New hybrid and electric vehicle repair shop opens in Atascadero

– Jonny Prius & EV Repair has opened its doors in Atascadero, marking the first independent automotive shop in San Luis Obispo County dedicated exclusively to hybrid and electric vehicle repair. Located in Atascadero, Jonny Prius serves hybrid and electric vehicles with specialized diagnostics, high-voltage battery replacement and refurbishment, and custom maintenance services within a 150-mile radius.
Jonathan and Michelle Cardenas, Paso Robles locals and parents of three, launched Jonny Prius in January to address the region’s growing need for hybrid and electric vehicle repair. “We recognized the growing need for specialized hybrid & electric vehicle maintenance and repair services.
As the automotive landscape shifts towards sustainable mobility, the demand for knowledgeable technicians and dedicated repair facilities becomes increasingly crucial,” Jonathan Cardenas said.
Co-owner Michelle Cardenas explained how Jonathan’s expertise led friends to call him “Jonny Prius” due to his efficient Prius repairs, which eventually inspired the shop’s name.
On Oct. 24, Jonny Prius held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce. The business will celebrate with a grand opening event on Oct. 26, welcoming family, friends, and new customers.
Jonny Prius offers a range of services for hybrid and electric vehicles, including diagnostics, high-voltage battery replacement and refurbishment, customization, and complimentary vehicle pick-up and drop-off.
The Cardenases bring 18 years of experience to their work, backed by certifications from the Automotive Service Excellence program (ASE), training from the Universal Technical Institute in Automotive Technology, and degrees from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
