Message from Mayor Heather Moreno: Let’s double-down our efforts
Message from Mayor Heather Moreno:
Double-down our efforts – continue sheltering & safe distancing
–Hello again. I’m Atascadero’s Mayor, Heather Moreno. I know that all of our lives have been seriously impacted by COVID-19. This continues to be an extremely trying and unusually stressful time for everyone, and I have to say once again just how very proud I am of all of us. Our community has been doing a really good job of helping to keep everyone safe by following the Shelter at Home and Safe Distancing orders that have been issued.
And I know you’re probably feeling a bit stir-crazy by now. I think we all are, and it’s understandable. But right now, more than ever before, it’s extremely important that we all continue do our very best to follow these guidelines; we cannot relax yet, in fact it’s time to double-down our efforts by doing an even better job of Sheltering and Safe Distancing.
Please remember, we are staying home to protect the most vulnerable in our community and to help ensure that our hospitals are not overwhelmed by the critically ill. We are staying home to protect our families, friends and neighbors. We all have people in our lives who are 65 or older, who have suffered from lung disease or heart disease, who have recovered from cancer or have other autoimmune concerns. Protecting our friends and loved ones is the reason we stay home.
The Shelter at Home order is slowing the spread COVID-19 in our county by ensuring the maximum number of people are self-quarantined at home, while enabling our community’s essential services to continue. If you do have to leave your home, please be very sure to stay a safe distance of at least six feet from others.
Please, I’m asking all of our residents to help keep our town safer by following the recommended guidelines. If we all continue to Stay Safely At Home as much as possible, we will be able to successfully limit the spread of the virus, and we’ll help to keep everyone in our community safer.

There’s also a lot of great information for Atascadero residents that’s easily available on the city’s website at www.atascadero.org/covid.
Thank you everyone. Stay safe!
