Man arrested in backyard after fleeing police
26-year-old Isaac Eric Gonzalez arrested on multiple charges
–California Highway Patrol officers have arrested Isaac Eric Gonzalez, a 26-year-old man from Paso Robles, on multiple charges after he crashed his car a fled from police Monday morning.
Gonzalez was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero, southbound on US-101, north of the Main Street over crossing in Templeton. Gonzalez lost control of his vehicle and collided with the guardrail in the median. Gonzalez was able to drive out of the median, and drive southbound away from the collision scene.
Witnesses saw the collision, and followed Gonzalez away from the scene as they called 911 to report the collision. As CHP units responded to the scene, Gonzalez continued southbound on US-101. As Gonzalez reached the Del Rio Road over crossing, his vehicle became disabled on the right shoulder of US-101. Gonzalez abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene on foot into, the back yards of nearby houses. CHP Units arrived on scene soon after and immediately began searching for Gonzalez. CHP Officers found Gonzalez hiding in the back yard of one of the houses.
After taking Gonzalez into custody, officers found drug paraphernalia on his person. Gonzalez was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for hit and run, driving a motor vehicle while being addicted to using an illegal drug, obstructing/delaying a peace officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. This collision is currently under investigation.
