Major roadwork starts in Atascadero with F-14 project
Project is scheduled to be completed in December
– The City of Atascadero will begin work on the 2024 F-14 Pavement Resurfacing Project on Monday, Oct. 28. The project involves resurfacing a total of 1.37 centerline miles (2.74 lane miles) of critical neighborhood roadways in the north and central areas of town.
Work will occur on Capistrano Avenue from Highway 41 to Lewis Avenue, with crews digging out and filling spot locations from Oct. 28 to Oct. 29. Resurfacing will follow in mid-November. Work hours will be limited to outside-of-school drop-off and pick-up times, and motorists can expect minor traffic delays and lane shifts.
Similar work will take place on Del Rio Road from Potrero Road to San Anselmo Road, with digging out and filling spot locations also scheduled for Oct. 28 to Oct. 29, followed by resurfacing in mid-November. San Andres Avenue from San Marcos Road to Highway 41 will see digging out and filling near the bridge crossing during the same dates, with resurfacing to follow in mid-November. Additionally, work on Country Club Drive from Capistrano Avenue to the end is estimated to start in mid-November.
The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2024, weather permitting. Roadway treatments will range from light to heavy overlays, slurry seals, or other methods that improve and maintain fair to good pavement conditions for entire roadway segments. The city has contracted Souza Construction to complete the project, which is expected to last approximately three months.
The city and Souza Construction will work closely with residents and other roadway users during construction to minimize inconvenience. However, delays should be expected, and motorists are encouraged to pay close attention to traffic signage and plan for extra travel time through construction areas.
