Locals fish at recently-stocked Atascadero Lake
At the south end of the lake, a father encouraged his son who cast as far as he could out into the lake as the sunset over the hills west of Atascadero.
–Recently, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife planted more than a thousand trout into Atascadero Lake. Local fishermen are still turning out in the evening hours to try to catch them.
Late Sunday afternoon, fishing enthusiasts drove their trucks to the water’s edge to enable their efforts to catch the fish. Many others stood on the bank with lines in the lake trying to snare one of the trout.

January’s warm Sunday afternoon brought a lot of activity to Atascadero Lake.
