Local reporter tells behind-the-scenes stories at luncheon
Atascadero Chamber of Commerce hosts Paula McCambridge at Women in Business
— Local newspaper reporter and editor Paula McCambridge will be speaking at the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce Women in Business luncheon on Oct. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
McCambridge has been giving local talks on the subject of journalism featuring stories from her book-in-progress, We the Reporters. Her book includes her story as an editor, reporter and photographer for newspapers across the United States and includes interviews with other journalism professionals.
Interviews include Bob Cuddy, retired writer and columnist with The Tribune; Lon Allen who was the Atascadero News editor for more than 30 years and a current columnist with The Tribune; Steve Martin, current Paso Robles mayor and former newsman in both print and radio; and many more.
McCambridge has written for News Media Corporation, which owns the Atascadero News and Paso Robles Press and currently freelance writes for The Tribune, A-town Daily News, Paso Robles Daily News, KCET/Artbound, Paso Robles Magazine, and the Visalia Times-Delta.
“At my talk for the Atascadero Women in Business, I want to share stories of the inner workings of local news agencies and to let my audience know how they can improve what they’re receiving, both as readers who want meaningful content in their local news and also as business people who want to make the most of publicity opportunities. Both readers and advertisers support a news agency’s success.”
Tickets to the luncheon are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. The luncheon will be located at the Atascadero Library at 6555 Capistrano Ave. Register at atascaderochamber.org or by calling (805) 466-2044.
