Library association president wins ‘Dancing With Our Stars’ competition
Melinda Reed raised over $65,500 to benefit Templeton Library
– Templeton Community Library Association President Melinda Reed won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy the final night of Dancing with Our Stars – hosted by Friends of the Atascadero Library. She and dance partner Charlie Bradley also won People’s Choice Dancers trophies Wednesday and Thursday nights. Paso Robles Mayor Steve Martin was the event MC, assisted by Atascadero Mayor Heather Moreno.
Postponed from March 2020 due to COVID-19, Reed continued practicing with her team of choreographer Judie Magonacelaya, dance partner Charlie Bradley and door attendant Ted Dubost, fundraising over $65,500 for Templeton Library. The much-needed funds will cover final building expenditures for the library, already in place at 1173 S. Main Street in Templeton, across from Templeton High School.
Templeton Library is an all-donor-funded library, completely run by volunteers. No county or government funds were received to build this library, every donation is critical to this project as costs soared during the pandemic. Donors provided everything from furnishings, books, computers, and landscaping. The library recently got power from PG&E and is awaiting official sign-off soon. A soft opening and then a grand opening is planned in October.
