Letter: Veteran troubled by Ellen Beraud
To the editor,
–As a veteran, I was troubled to see the recent letter to the editor regarding Ellen Beraud. Not only did Ellen Beraud vote “No” on the motion to move forward with the Veterans Memorial at the city council meeting on March 27, 2007, she “sat” alone in that vote. I am attaching minutes from that meeting for your review, clearly showing her “NO” vote. (shown below)
Further troubling is the fact her vote against the memorial moving forward that night, was declared with uniformed military personnel present in the audience in front of her. It is a sad note that an individual such as herself, born in Canada, would choose political delay tactics over the heartfelt and moving audience members’ testimonies in favor of a “Yes” vote for our American soldiers and their families, past, present, and future.
