Letter: We need conservative appointments to city, county boards
To the editor,
I’ve been an Atascadero resident since 1977 and appreciate the positive direction of the current City Council. It wasn’t always this way. In 2007-2008 the council majority was divisive and did everything they could to stop Wal-Mart. Then their supporters filed a lawsuit – and an appeal when they lost – that for years prevented the much needed shopping center from being built, allowing our tax dollars and jobs to go to Paso.
Mayor Tom O’Malley and Council Member Roberta Fonzi have been integral to the fresh perspective of the last eight years. We’ve seen infrastructure improvements, new businesses and a much-improved atmosphere between the council and public. Both care deeply about Atascadero and are protecting our resources and improving the business climate. Most importantly, I feel if at anytime I have a question or a problem, I can contact either Mayor O’Malley or Councilwoman Fonzi.
The mayors supporting Tom O’Malley’s challenger (an individual with zero relevant experience): Three are from the 2007-2008 term, and caused a nightmare for our city. Two others simply don’t like Tom (but, interestingly, agreed with him most of the time during their years on council).
We need conservative appointments to the various city and county boards. Please vote for Tom O’Malley and Roberta Fonzi.
