Letter: Mayors need experience
To the editor,
–For any other job, we would never dream of hiring someone without the experience and qualifications commensurate with the position. Teacher, auto mechanic, fast food manager – we all expect someone to meet a minimum standard of training, experience and capability. So I’m astonished at the argument that to be mayor, the highest position of responsibility in Atascadero, one does not need experience or qualifications.
We all have friends, neighbors and co-workers who are caring, good listeners, and volunteer for the community, but that is not the sum total list of skills necessary to serve successfully as mayor.
Tom O’Malley is highly qualified with degrees in economics and education, extensive experience working with multi-million dollar budgets, and a proven leader at getting things done for Atascadero. In addition to all of these qualifications, he is also a good listener, caring and tirelessly volunteers his time and resources to our community. O’Malley is the best choice for mayor.
