Letter: Experience and proven leadership matter 

To the editor, 

–At the risk of sounding old-fashioned in today’s political climate, I believe experience and proven leadership matter. The highest elected office in our city needs someone with the judgment, knowledge and capability to steward Atascadero’s finances, advocate for control of local resources and foster a strong local economy. It also requires someone who appreciates the public process and works to build consensus within the community and between council members. Tom O’Malley is that person.

As a life-long educator and long-time resident of Atascadero, I’ve seen a lot of changes in our city. We’re at a pivotal point in determining our future, both maintaining our unique character and continuing our strong economic development program, and I appreciate the positive trajectory forged by the current council and mayor. I believe Tom is the best person to continue the good work in process. Please join me in supporting the re-election of Tom O’Malley for Mayor of Atascadero.
