Letter: Charles Bourbeau is an excellent candidate for Atascadero City Council

To the editor,

–Here in Atascadero we have a chance to add a strong leader to our City Council. Charles Bourbeau is an excellent candidate who deserves your vote.

Consider what the council does:

“The mayor presides over the meetings and performs other ceremonial duties. As the policy-making legislative body, the city council is responsible for the enactment of all programs, policies and services of the city… The council acts upon all legislative matters, approving and adopting all ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other matters requiring overall policy decisions and leadership.”

The Eagle Ranch annexation issue is coming to the council soon. The city should hire professionals to negotiate the complexities of this issue. The Wal Mart project is due to start in 2017. The original traffic study estimated a cost of over $4 million for the Del Rio Interchange, now it’s over $11 million. Again, this will be a critical discussion for the council.

Charles is well versed in these issues and many others that will come before the council.
