Lean gold leaf techniques, history at free workshop
– Art enthusiasts eager to explore the intricate art of gold leaf application can attend a workshop led by art teacher Spencer Collins at Art Center Morro Bay.
The workshop, titled “Gold Leaf in Calligraphy, Artwork, and History,” will cover two distinct techniques for applying gold leaf. One method will focus on calligraphy, while the other will demonstrate how to apply gold leaf to larger surfaces. Participants will delve into the significance of gold in art during the Byzantine era and draw inspiration from artworks by Gustav Klimt.
Collins, a renowned artist, known for her engaging and interactive workshops, brings her passion for art to the classroom. She has conducted numerous classes at Art Central and Art Center Morro Bay, covering a wide array of topics including drawing, bronze work, printmaking, and photography. Collins’ artistic style spans from realistic landscapes to expressive abstracts.
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, May 13, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Art Center Morro Bay located at 835 Main St., Morro Bay, CA 93442. The event is free and open to the public.
