League of Women Voters to hold mayoral civil discourse meeting
League to present concepts and principles of Civility & Civil Discourse at San Luis Obispo County Council of Mayors on July 10
– The League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County will continue its campaign to promote civility and civil discourse on Friday, July 10. On that day, league members will meet with the mayors of the seven incorporated cities in San Luis Obispo County and share with them effective ideas and solutions for civil discourse.
The league said that they started its civil discourse program two years ago when members noted the lack of civility in public meetings, in the media, and in congress. The league resolved to study and promote civil discourse through action and education.
The league has created a brochure that outlines best practices for civility and civil discourse. The league will be passing out stickers in addition to its brochure. The league will be present at public meetings countywide both as ambassadors and as observers.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization whose members encourage informed and active participation in government.
