– The Atascadero Kiwanis Club recently shared some club activity highlights in its February newsletter. At the annual Chili Cook-Off, Donna Morgan claimed victory with her perennial favorite chili, and Angela Ramsey chaired the event. The competition featured 14 entries, and new member Sam Berry won the winning ticket, securing a prize of $470. Key Club members, led by President Tyler and Kiwanian Rikki Anderson, were actively involved in the kitchen, preparing and serving creative chili samples.

In another noteworthy achievement, Greg Heath, along with Chrissy Heath, received the W. Reid Allen, Jr. Memorial Rose Float Fellowship during their annual volunteer work on the Kiwanis Rose Parade Float in Southern California. The award, presented by the Kiwanis Rose Float Club of Pasadena, acknowledges Heath’s dedication to help create the beautiful floats. Heath serves on the club’s board.
The Kiwanis Club also participated in the annual Chicken Run at Santa Margarita Lake. Despite the chilly weather, club members, led by event chairs Jeff Weit, a retired teacher, and Albert Almodova, cooked up hundreds of pancakes for runners and volunteers alike.
