January programming at the Atascadero Library

The Atascadero Library is located at 6555 Capistrano Ave in Atascadero.

–The Atascadero Library has announced programming for January.

The library will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day and Monday, Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The library will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 for New Year’s Eve.

Children’s programs

Preschool storytimes
Preschool storytimes are scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30. They will share stories and songs.

Toddler Storytime
Storytime specifically designed for toddlers every Friday morning at 10:30. They will share stories, rhymes, music and finger plays.

Family Movie
Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. Fun for all ages.

Craft Club 
Come make a fun project! Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 3:30 p.m. Registration required. For ages 6-12.

Lego club
Join in on some lego building fun. Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. Registration required. For ages 5-12.

Family Maker Day 
Bring the family for an afternoon tinkering, playing, and making! Stations include Hexbugs, magnets, robotic arm, and more. Saturday, Jan. 25 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. For all ages.

Teen Programs

Teen Createspace 
You never know what you can create. Bring your ideas and design a project or craft! Fridays at 2:30 p.m. For ages 13-17.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting
Bring your ideas on what you would like to see in the Library and stay for the raffle and refreshments! Sign up at the meeting required. Board meets every third Friday of the month. This month’s meeting is on Friday, Jan. 17 at 3:30 p.m. For ages 13-17.

Adult Programs

Encaustic painting
Create beautiful paintings that incorporate heated beeswax and ephemera. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. Registration required.

Fall prevention classes
Tuesdays in January. Provided by the SLO Health Agency. Jan. 14, 21 and 28 at 1 p.m. Registration required.

19th Amendment Centennial: ‘A Seat at the Table’
Meet notable California leader Mona Rogers Pasquil to hear her story and learn about the State Appointment process. Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m.

Book discussion groups 
The two library book groups are Gem in the Stacks which meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 11 and Mixed Minds Book Group which meets the 3rd Thursday of the month at 2:30. Gems in the Stacks will discuss Less by Andrew Greer. Mixed Minds will discuss The Honey Bus by Meredith May

Drawn to the Central Coast art exhibit 
This exhibit features local artists Tracy Paz and Drew Mayerson. Art is on display from December through February.
