Hundreds turn out to watch pre-season scrimmage
–The Atascadero Greyhounds hosted the Templeton Eagles for a pre-season scrimmage Friday night. The scoreboard did not display the score, and the scrimmage did not include kick-offs, or punts. But players experienced a game-like scenario under the Friday night lights.
Because players wore practice jerseys with random numbers, ascertaining the identity of players was difficult. Regardless, hundreds of fans turned out to see the scrimmage. School board trustee Ray Buban says, “It’s exciting to see the return of Atascadero High School football. The Greyhounds have a great tradition in the North County.”
The Greyhounds open their season next Friday with a non-conference game in Fresno against Sunnyside.
