Hundreds turn out for Turkey Trot fundraiser in Atascadero

Event raised nearly $60,000 for El Camino Homeless Shelter in Atascadero

– Three hundred people started Thanksgiving day with a Turkey Trot at Atascadero Lake Thursday morning. The turkey trot is a fundraiser for El Camino Homeless Shelter in Atascadero.T-Trot Tutu TrioCEO Wendy Lewis says she was pleased with the turnout, particularly in light of the cold temperatures. ECHO Development & Administrative Manager Kristie Steele helped organize and coordinate the event. She also recruited a very capable volunteer to wear the Turkey costume.

People were encouraged to wear turkey costumes. Awards were given for best child’s costume and best adults’ costume. Runners ran two laps around the lake. Walkers walked around once.

Wendy says they raised about $60,000 dollars with the Turkey Trot, although people are still making contributions.T-trot
