Hounds fall to Lancers, Eagles tame the Tigers

– After a long journey to Mountain View on Friday, the Atascadero Greyhounds (2-1) were unable to beat the force of the St. Francis Lancers (3-0) and suffered a 20-0 loss.
The Lancers scored two touchdowns in the first quarter against the Hounds and another in the second quarter to lead 20-0 going into halftime. With neither team able to add numbers to the scoreboard in the second half, St. Francis held onto their 20-0 lead to defeat Atascadero.
The Greyhounds are on the road to Nipomo to take on the Titans (2-2) on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7p.m.; JV takes the field at 4 p.m.

Templeton 60, SLO 21

– The Templeton Eagles hosted the San Luis Obispo Tigers in their second home game of the season. Garnering a 60-21 win over the Tigers, the Eagles upped their undefeated record to 4-0, much to the delight of the crowd.

Jordan Bernal ran in a 10-yard touchdown for the Eagles to get the scoring started in the first quarter. Teammate Matteo D’Alfanso had a 55-yard pass from Bernal to bring in another touchdown for Templeton and, in the second quarter, another D’Alfanso and Bernal combo resulted in a 55-yard passing touchdown.

Templeton’s Michael Capelli was unstoppable throughout the second quarter, with a 64-yard passing touchdown, an 80-yard touchdown run in, and another 23-yard running touchdown for the Eagles. With the Tigers adding three touchdowns in the second quarter, Templeton led 26-21 going into halftime.

Jaret Butz scored an 18-yard passing touchdown for the Eagles in the third quarter to pad their lead over the Tigers, 33-21. With the force of the Templeton defense holding back any further scoring opportunities, SLO (0-4) failed to add any numbers to the scoreboard for the remainder of the night.
Jordan Bernal had a 12 yard touchdown run in for Templeton in the fourth quarter, followed by yet another Capelli 9-yard touchdown run in for the Eagles to seal the 60-21 win over the Tigers.

Capelli had 261 yards rushing on the night for Templeton; Bernal had 267 yards passing, and D’Alfanso topped the night in receiving with an impressive 152 yards.
The varsity Eagles are set to host the Cabrillo Conquistadores (0-4) on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.; JV takes the field at 4 p.m.
