Hiker rescued from Bishop Peak after fall Saturday morning

Video shows helicopter hovering near rock face during rescue
– A hiker was airlifted from Bishop Peak on Saturday morning following a fall, according to a Facebook post from the Coastal Division Air Operations of the California Highway Patrol.
The California Highway Patrol’s H-70 helicopter was requested at 10:20 a.m. to assist with a fall victim on Bishop Peak. The helicopter responded and delivered a rescue device to San Luis Obispo Fire Department personnel at the scene, the post said.
Fire department personnel prepared the patient for extraction, and the H-70 helicopter airlifted the individual to a nearby landing zone. Video shared by the California Highway Patrol showed the helicopter lifting the hiker while hovering next to a steep rock face.
The hiker was transferred to an ambulance. The extent of their injuries was not known. No further information is available at this time.
