Highway 58 resurfacing project continues east of Santa Margarita
– A resurfacing project on Highway 58 near Santa Margarita from I Street to State Route 229 will continue the week of Aug. 4, according to a press release from CalTrans.
Overnight work is scheduled Monday, Aug. 4 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and will include narrowed lane widths and a reduced speed limit from I Street to the Highway 58 and Pozo Road split. Daytime work will continue through Friday of that week.
One-way reversing traffic control will be in place on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 11 and Aug. 12, for the installation of temporary barriers. Lanes will be narrowed to 10 feet, and Caltrans will reduce the speed limit to 25 mph from I Street to the Highway 58 and Pozo Road split for the safety of both workers and travelers.
Electronic message boards have been activated to notify the public.
The contractor for the $7.9 million project is CalPortland Construction of Santa Maria. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.
