Highway 41 resurfacing near Cholame will begin next week
Caltrans reported that they will resurface a section of State Route 41 from the Hwy. 46 East/State Route 41 Interchange to the summit of Cottonwood Pass on Wednesday, May 13.
This maintenance work will result in a full closure of State Route 41 from the Hwy. 46 East/State Route 41 Interchange to State Route 33 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Caltrans reported.
Motorists may use the following detours during this one-day project:
• Motorists headed northbound will continue on Highway 46 East to State Route 33 to State Route 41.
• Motorists headed southbound on State Route 41 will detour to State Route 33 to Highway 46.
• Kecks Road at Hwy. 46 East will be closed to all motorists during this road work.
Caltrans says that this detour will add an additional 27 miles/minutes to the regular commute for a total of a 50 mile detour. Message boards have been activated on Highway 41 in Cholame and Kettleman City to advise motorists of this closure and detours.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
