Help the Atascadero Soccer Allstars get to the Western States Championships
The championship games are March 24 – 25
–Atascadero Boys u12 Allstar team won the sectional playoffs held in Bakersfield in February. These playoffs were the culmination of 70 cities (some with multiple all-star teams), and over 1500 all-star players being represented. The top 16 teams featured in these playoffs battled it out, with Atascadero hoisting the crown and getting the chance to move on and represent California at the Western States Championships held in Carson City, Nevada on March 24-25.
The team will be going up against three other states, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. The winner of this four-team playoff will then move on to the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) National games. This is the first Atascadero and Central Coast team to advance this far in this division in AYSO history.
The team has started a “Help Atascadero Soccer Allstars” GoFundMe campaign to help them meet expenses to get to the championships. The expenses include lodging, transportation, meals and equipment. Assistant Coach Doug Martin said the combined donations from the GofundMe campaign and community support have brought the team about one-third of the needed amount. Martin said the community support has been “awesome,” and the team is hoping these last few days will bring in the rest of what they need.
