Heat advisory in effect for Atascadero today

– A heat advisory is in effect for Atascadero and the inland areas of San Luis Obispo County from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with temperatures expected to reach 92 to 102 degrees.
The advisory affects the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Central Ventura County valleys, Cuyama Valley, San Luis Obispo County interior valleys and mountains, and the Southern Salinas Valley.
Officials said there is a high risk of heat illness for sensitive populations, including the very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. They advise residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, avoid the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Residents are also urged to wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening, and take immediate action if symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke occur.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high of 71 degrees and a low of 49. Thursday will be sunny with a high of 75 degrees and a low of 50. Friday will be sunny with a high of 78 degrees and a low of 49.
