Halloween events planned in Atascadero through the weekend
Events include Farmers Market celebration, downtown trick-or-treating, and more
– The City of Atascadero has announced a series of Halloween-themed events for families taking place throughout the week and into the weekend.
The celebration begins Wednesday, Oct. 29, with the Halloween Celebration at the Atascadero Farmers Market, held from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Sunken Gardens. Hosted by North County Farmers Markets, the event will feature live music and magic by Andy Morris. Vendors will hand out treats, and visitors in costume can spin the prize wheel at the manager’s booth for additional prizes.
A free pumpkin decorating activity will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with supplies provided. Space and pumpkins are limited, and reservations can be made by calling or texting (805) 748-1109 or emailing casey@northcountyfarmersmarkets.com.
On Friday, the city will host Orange and Grey Fridays downtown, encouraging residents to park downtown before and after the Greyhound football game. Those wearing orange or grey can receive discounts at several participating businesses, including Barley & Boar, Cielo, Street Side Ale House, Colony Sandwich Company, and Wild Fields Brewhouse, which will offer 10 percent off food orders. Additional discounts on beer and wine will be available at A-Town Chop Shop, Kula Hawaiian Kitchen and Winery, and Decades HiFi Lounge.
Later that evening, families are invited to Trick or Treat Downtown on Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participating shops will offer candy and activities between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., including a costume contest at Gatherings Thrift, music and costumes at Poisoned Apple and Ancient Owl, and a hay bale maze off Entrada Avenue.
Festivities continue Saturday, Nov. 1, with Día de los Muertos at the Central Coast Zoo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include themed crafts, cultural exhibits, and educational presentations about the connection between wildlife and the holiday’s traditions. Food from Quesadilla Gorilla will be available for purchase. The event is presented by Coastal Communities Physician Network and First 5 San Luis Obispo County and is included with regular zoo admission.
Additional Halloween attractions include The Haunt, running downtown through Nov. 1, and the Halloween Spooktacular Lights and Sights display at 7720 Cortez Avenue, open through Oct. 31.
