Grant supports El Camino Homeless Organization’s efforts

– El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) has received a $5,000 donation from Spectrum through its Employee Community Grants program.

ECHO provides shelter and support services aimed at helping individuals and families achieve long-term stability. The grant will assist ECHO’s mission, especially as the community faces rising costs and increased demand for services.

“We are honored to receive this Spectrum Employee Community Grant, which will help drive real change in our community,” said Wendy Lewis, executive director of ECHO. “When local businesses and individuals come together, we can create lasting solutions and provide the resources necessary to help our neighbors working hard to move into stable housing.”

To celebrate the donation, Spectrum hosted a check presentation on Nov. 22 at the El Camino Homeless Organization in Atascadero. San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Debbie Arnold also attended.

“As a devoted board member of ECHO, I am continually inspired by the profound changes being made in the lives of individuals and families in our local community. ECHO has helped more than 305 individuals and families secure stable housing in 2024. From the daily meal and shower program to the workforce development initiative and current plans to expand the family unit, Wendy Lewis and her staff of heart-forward champions are empowering people in San Luis Obispo County to create lasting change,” said Angela Lynch, Spectrum employee and ECHO board member.

“I am deeply grateful to ECHO for welcoming me into their family and feel equally fortunate to work for Spectrum, a company that wholeheartedly supports a cause so close to my heart,” Lynch added.

Since launching in July 2019, Spectrum’s Employee Community Grants has distributed more than $1.5 million to nearly 400 organizations across 32 states. The grants support groups providing essential services such as food, shelter, clothing, job training, and neighborhood safety. Each recipient is nominated by a Spectrum employee who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.

“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations where our employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Rahman Khan, group vice president of community impact for Charter Communications, which owns Spectrum. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work.”

Spectrum, offered by Charter Communications, provides internet, TV, mobile, and voice services to more than 57 million homes and businesses across 41 states. More information is available at corporate.charter.com.
