Fugitive from Washington arrested in San Luis Obispo
Ronald James Hart arrested for impersonation, extradition to Washington pending
– Police have arrested a fugitive from Washington after a series of encounters with officers in San Luis Obispo. The suspect, identified as Ronald James Hart, 40, of Elma, Washington, was taken into custody on Dec. 11 following an incident on the 700 block of Foothill Blvd.
The arrest followed an earlier interaction on Nov. 20, when officers approached two males illegally parked in a disabled space at the Conserv Fuel on Santa Rosa Street. One of the males, who did not have identification documents, provided officers with multiple false names. He was cited for misdemeanor providing false identification to a peace officer
On Dec. 11, officers encountered the same man on the 700 block of Foothill Blvd. During this interaction, the man again provided several false names. Officers arrested him for felony falsely impersonating another. During the arrest, officers positively identified him as Ronald James Hart.
Further investigation revealed that Hart was a fugitive from Washington, having failed to check in with his probation officer. He was transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Washington.
Hart faces additional charges of misdemeanor identifying information, theft with intent to defraud, and being a felony fugitive without an arrest warrant. This charge allows authorities to hold Hart in custody pending his extradition.
