Friends plan 62.5-mile run to raise funds for paralyzed Templeton man

The fundraiser, called Project 625, aims to purchase Brycen Killion an adaptive mountain bike
– A group of friends will run 62.5 miles from Templeton to Avila Beach on April 4 to raise $20,000 for a local man left paralyzed after a dirt bike accident.
Brycen Killion was paralyzed from the chest down on Dec. 13 after an accident while riding his dirt bike. The fundraiser, called Project 625, aims to purchase Killion an adaptive mountain bike. Adaptive bikes allow individuals with spinal cord injuries to ride trails. The project’s name references Killion’s dirt bike racing number.
Runners Brody McLaughlin, Spencer Holsine, and Bryson Gardner plan to depart downtown Templeton at approximately 3 a.m. The route travels through Cayucos, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo before finishing near Merseas in Avila Beach, passing along Los Osos Valley Road, Bishop Peak, Madonna Mountain, and the Bob Jones Trail. The run is estimated to take approximately 13 hours.
All proceeds go directly to Killion and his wife, Kayla. As of the time of publication, $7,000 has been raised toward the $20,000 goal. Additional funds raised beyond the goal will go toward adaptive equipment and other accessibility needs.
Community members are invited to join the runners for any portion of the route. The runners will provide live updates on social media throughout the event.
