Applications will be accepted through May 9

– The Friends of the Charles Paddock Zoo announced it is accepting applications for new board members to begin their term in July.

The group, which supports the Charles Paddock Zoo as its nonprofit partner, has undergone changes over the past two years under the leadership of Rachelle Rickard and Steve Robinson. According to the organization, those changes have strengthened its ability to support the zoo’s mission.

“This is an exciting time to be part of the Friends of the Charles Paddock Zoo board because of the strides we have taken in the past two years to support and empower the zoo’s mission so that it is here for another 70 years,” said Rickard, president of the Friends of the Charles Paddock Zoo.

The group’s involvement contributed to the Charles Paddock Zoo receiving accreditation. That effort was led by Zoo Director Cynthia Stringfield and Terrie Banish, director of community services and promotions with the City of Atascadero.

The Friends of the Charles Paddock Zoo is looking for individuals with fund development skills who are interested in the future of the zoo and in animal conservation. Applications will be accepted through May 9. Those interested can request a board application by emailing the board’s president-elect at [email protected].
