Free seminar helps parents teach kids positive financial habits
Preschoolers to high schoolers can learn life-long tips
–Adults looking for guidance or simply new ideas for teaching kids about money will benefit from the free presentation Sept. 14.
“Raising a Money Smart Kid,” will be presented by Carla Swift of SESLOC. Swift is a parent, grandparent and part-time professor of communications studies at Cuesta College. Her seminar emphasizes the importance of money-management education from an early age, helping children acquire the attitudes and skills needed to succeed as adults.
The seminar will focus on strategies for a range of ages, from preschool to high school. Topics include age-appropriate money skills; using allowances and other income to build good sharing, saving and spending habits; distinguishing between needs and wants, and the wise use of credit when the time comes.
The seminar will be held from 6-7 p.m. at SESLOC Federal Credit Union at 8380 El Camino Real in Atascadero. Doors open at 5:30. Those interested should register at: https://www.sesloc.org/member-resources/2016-seminars.
