Reports say the incident started around 4 p.m. Friday, on Highway 101, when a witness driving next to Scovell’s car noticed physical violence, and followed the vehicle off the highway to Scovell’s home while alerting authorities. The same witness then reportedly saw a man, which appeared to be Scovell, get out of the vehicle and allegedly hit a woman with beer bottles while she was on the ground.

When officers arrived, they were able to take the victim to a safe place for questioning while Scovell went into the home with his mother. Reports say that the victim suffered injuries from the incident. Scovell contacted his lawyer, Ilan Funke-Bilu, who was able to convince him to surrender himself after a four-hour standoff with police.

Police have reportedly been called to Scovell’s home several times for reports of battery against his girlfriend. In March of 2015, Scovell was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run charges.

Scovell faces charges of felony domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and violation of a protective order, according to reports.

As of Monday morning, Scovell remained in custody. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
